Bubbly and sugar

As promised i am back to post my projects for bubbly scrumptious and vanilla sugar.

Firstly i have a baby wall hanging using lots of maya road chipboard.













Next i have my vanilla sugar creating. The theme this month was bird houses or birds. I repurposed a garden hanging box for this project before altering it with metal distressing tools and alcohol inks.











I love my little picket fence, it took me an hour to painstakingly cut all the lttle pieces out, lol

Squiggles and giggles

So i was at a loose end yesterday and had a little catch up with my blog subscriptions. I noticed on Squiggles and giggles the monthly card sketch comp so i downloaded a digi stamp, cracked open my scrapbox and got the small collection of whisper pens i own out.

Here is what i created, dont laugh i am not a card maker anymore.







I have stuff from vanilla sugar and bubbly to upload but they all need resizing and i have no energy at the moment, i wonder why!

A little stork told me...........

I have recently had a little bit of unexpected news as you can see above. We are still very much in shock. Just waiting on a emergency dating scan to see how far along and then the whirl wind begins, lol.

Artsy Crafts Retreat

OK, so i have finally taken some photo's of my Gothic arch that we created at last weekends retreat. I have to say this was the best retreat i have ever been on. Leandra and Lin have the whole thing going like a well oiled machine. It was just perfect. And the venue was brillient, food coming out of our ears.

I haver two more mini projects to show that we also did but i will blog them another time as so zonked physically and mentally at the moment.

Rusty Pickle

Last week i was lucky to grab a spot on the last minute Rusty pickle class up here in NE Scotland. Well we had a blast.

I have this stinking cold at the moment and just feel yak so inbetween trying to get a few bits of college work in and falling asleep all over the place, i managed to finish my album. It differs from the class ever so slightly, well it wouldnt be mine if i didnt change it suit bow would it, lol

My New love

I have to introduce you to my new love. Mumford & Sons: Sigh no more



Here is a review of the album and i just have to aggree. I have had it on and just wrote 1000 words on essay which is unusual as i have to write in silence.

Energetically framed with banjo breaks and close harmonies, ‘Sigh No More’ centrepiece ‘Roll Away Your Stone’ is Mumford & Sons in microcosm: acoustic guitars chug along, strings are plucked frenetically, Marcus Mumford sings of souls, going too far and broken dreams whilst the band, in strident harmonies, supports the sentiment with dynamic skill coming out their ears.

As debuts go, ‘Sigh No More’ is confessional storytelling of high and handsome quality. The likes of ‘White Blank Page’ and the title track itself sound like long-held folk melodies direct from English fields, heartily-emotioned crescendic swells and lovelorn, angsty lyrics to span centuries. Not that this is a self-indulgent slab of nostalgia; if Elbow, or Daniel Johnston, released ‘I Gave You All’, it’d be hailed as a stroke of genius. The fact is that it could also have been written by Henry VIII in ragey Brian Blessed mode is an added bonus.

‘Sigh No More’ is an album that delivers everything, in fact, that good indie music is about: melodies, self-searching lyrics, energy, misunderstanding and an often-scabrous quiver of tales torn direct from the soul. It’s just that it takes cues more from Cardiacs and John Renbourn rather than Kasabian or Pixies. Classy stuff.

It just so reminds me of my favourite artists from when i was a late teen, stone roses, sea horses, early REM. Love it.

Vanilla Sugar cont

So the vanilla Sugar challenge for this month has now gone live. And the challenge this month was to make a fabric mini album.

I have made quite a few fabric albums in my time so the challenge this time was to try and do something a bit different.

So my pages started out as a curtain pelmet sample i was given a few months ago. I Actaully got 3 of them bit i have the other one eyeballed for a Donna Downey style inspiration journal, watch this space, lol. I knew i had Websters papers and 7 gypsies stickers that would match perfectly with the colurs in the fabric, how sad is that, lol

I made my pages tall and thin, like me!!!! i cut them out, wadded them and then stitched front and back. I wanted it to look rough and ready seeing as it was a book of the boys so i didnt turn the edges or hem them, just left them frayed. I added 3 eyelets per page and then slotted in a few paper pages as well. Truely mixed media.
