My new creative work of art

I could not settle into any college work today as I had a little craft idea floating around my head. Caroline's craftz forum and a spoonful of sprinkles is running a prize challenge to scrap the little things in life. Week 5's prompt was to do a LO about a friend.

I got creative with the scissors, scalpel and foam pads to create this beauty in my opinion. So Lush and girly.

Last week I went on a craft event in Aberdeen run by Karen and her girls from funky kits. The event was great and me and mum really enjoyed it. The technique learnt in Erika's class was the inspiration for the above LO. Below is a LO created of michael and gemma using the topper made during Karens class.

The chipboard swirls used on both are from my prize for the events pre challenge. The LO was my interpretation of the selkirk grace. LO to follow.

Quick post

Just a few pics of my recent scrapbooking.

Firstly is a challenge to produce a LO about carolines craftz new blog- a spoonful of sprinkles. It is a really good blog with lots of valuable information and ideas, go take a look. I was inspired to produce this LO.

The second challenge was to make my own stamps. I opted for daisy stamps made from foam and wood and doodles made from thick string. I have already reused the stamps in the I love online scrapbooking LO so well worth the effort to make some stamps.

Back to the books and essays.

Sorry

Not been on for a while as my college work is taking over for the next 2 months. I have a essay due in this week, one due in 2 weeks after that which I haven't started doing yet. I then have 2 power point presentations and a project to complete by the end of April, so busy busy. My blogging is likely to be hit and miss over the coming weeks.

But I am trying to squeeze some scrapbooking in, just to relax me.

Firstly this week I completed a challenge on Carolines craftz forum. The challenge was to use as many pics as possible and to include the word hippopotamus. My theme was beach, pool and the jounallying reflected Daniel and Alex's love of the water. They are like little hippos and are always submerged in water.

My second challenge this week, also for caroline's was to do a page about me. This was inspired as it was independent woman day. I am quite happy doing pages about me know as I have gained confidence thru doing the UKS BOM prompts with Roz and Kirsty. This one listed who I am, what i like, and how I am. I include all my good points as well as my bad points.

My last LO was for my BOM prompts set by Roz. This month's was to paint your hands and express journalling about the role of your hands. This was hard as I have never done a LO without a picture but once I started the journalling painted the picture I wanted.I decided to take it down to basics. I wrote journalling specific to the lines on my hands.

The titles read " I have 10 fingers and they all belong to me. I can make them do things, do you want to see!"

The first line is the heart line which reads: this line represents matters of my heart, my emotion, well being and love. My hands are needed within my mothering role and help me love my children. They nature them, sooth them and give them a helping hand. My hands show my love for my husband with a gentle stroke of the cheek or a passionate hug.

My life line represents vitality and vigour, my physical health and general well being. My hands help me achieve vitality and vigour; they groom my skin and hair and make me feel great. My hands help me at the gym sometimes in achieving good physical health.

My head line represents my mind, the way it works, thinks, learning style, thirst for knowledge and communication. My hands help me achieve this in the way they help me communicate thru my art, hobbies and scrapbooking. My hands help me search for knowledge in my work as a lab technician and in my studies at college in natural science.

I love my fat, stubby hands as they are so versatile!

I will leave you with a brief extract of my essay so you can see how boring it is. I'd much rather be doing something crafty instead.

" With the formation of a solid crust, the low density substances within the crust became expelled as gases to form an early atmosphere. This early atmosphere consisted of gases similar to those found in volcanic regions today, mainly water in the form of steam, carbon dioxide, hydrogen and other trace gases such as sulphur dioxide, nitrogen, chlorine and methane. This early atmosphere was remarkably different than today’s atmosphere as it contained large volumes of carbon dioxide. Over the course of millions of years this early atmosphere continued to change. This was a result of meteorite bombardment and the changing composition of the substances within the Earths mantle"

Interesting. I aim to broaden your minds!!!

We are finally home from a quick visit to england to visit Keith's mum, who is recovering from a serious operation. The journey took over 9 and a half hours as the weather was really bad and windy.

The trip was really pleasant in the circumstances. I had all my hair cut off and went for a chin length bob, which I havent had for 6 years. I went shopping in all the local craft shops for more scrapbooking stash. I got some loverly 7 gypsies paper and some gorgues Dove craft papers (Just for looking at I think). I meet up with Jenny for the first time since moving to scotland. I also had a unexpected meet with Yvonne and her family. Yvonne was one of my closest friend thru school and our early exploration of the pub scene. We had a great time remembering some of the dodgy things we did when we were younger. I was reminising recently as I spotted Yvonne on friends reunited. This promted me to find some old photo's. I actually found Yvonne's 18th birthday pics, showing Helen and Carol (Yvonne's sisters) and Alison who I have known since I was 5 years old and Jenny. Hopefully I can put the pics on the blog-permission pending.

We also got to spend alot of time with Michael my brother and Gemma his girlfiriend. The kids love spending time with mookie who gets them hysterical and then hands them back to us. The boys also love Gemma and would really like her to become Aunty Gemma.

Popped in to see Auntie Chrissie and Uncle Michael. Michael is looking really well after his last lot of chemo. He has started swimming daily and taking the dog for long walks, and it shows.

We are starting our diet today. Salad and jacket spud for tea today. Going to try and fit some exercise into the schedule again.

I had a really bad day at work today. I shall so no more on the subject as I am really angry. I am going to college tomorrow so I think I will find out about grants and stuff. I am seriously fed up with work at the moment. I want to be a full time grungy student and part time scrapbooker!!!

I have some Scrapbooking ideas running around my head at the moment and lots of challenges to complete. I still have the mixed media thing fro the Aberdeen event to complete, a LO using lots of photos and I have to practice making my own stamps!!!!

That's the mammoth post over with, as its back to the college work tonight. I have to do research on El Nino, boring and the contents of soils, even more boring, yawn, yawn

Well, I have had a busy 2 weeks, hence no blog update. I was snowed under with Single status stuff for work. This is a massive task aimed at getting our technical skills and knowledge appreciated.

Then I have so much college work to do, my head hurts. I have spent the night researching the effect of DDT pesticides, which was interesting and Ocean currents which was not!!!!!

I was even going to cancel my crop, but i made a new years resolution that i had to put college aside and relax with some hard earned scrapbooking. I am glad I went as it was such fun, chat and hilarity. I completed only one layout. I had some great pictures of Dan and Alex with dirty faces.

My pre crop challenge mini book is coming along nicely. I did 2 more pages, the first is the inside cover and depicts me as I am now @ 31.

The next is an introductory page, highlighting what you can expect inside the book.

We are away down to liverpool tomorrow as MIL is sick.

Cool Quiz

Just a quick post today.
I found this quiz on the net.

Numerology

For thousands of years, the belief in the universal relevance and importance of numbers has guided countries and cultures. Each individual has a number that defines who they are as a person, describes character traits, and predicts the timing of and they're reaction to, their greatest triumphs and worst tragedies.

Your personal number is arrived at by adding the numbers in your date of birth. All double-digit numbers are added together to create a single digit number (1-9).

Here's an example:

Actress Julia Roberts was born on October 28th, 1967.

1. October is the tenth month, so we have to add the one and the zero of ten (1+0) to get 1 as her month number.

2. Next we add the two and the eight of 28 (2+8). This equals 10. Again we add the double digits and get 1. So Julia's Month number and her day number are both 1.

3. Then we add up her year: 1+9+6+7=23. Adding 2 and 3 together gives us 5.

4. Finally, we add Julia's month number (1) and her day number (1) to her year number (5. 1 +1+5 = 7.

Conclusion: Julia Roberts is a 7.

Add up your own number to discover your numerology destiny!
