Altered Art-Canvas

I was recently given a copy of cloth, paper, scissors (CPS) by Fiona at our crop to pass onto mum. As she was away at the time i decided to browse thru it. Wow what a inspiration art magazine it is. Lots of little projects jumped out at me to try.

But as i have lots of canvases hanging around (you know you all have them from when they are on special, lol), I decided to make a sort of family inspired collarge similar to the one in CPS.

Here is how i did it.

. I took a 12 x 12 plain white canvas
. I covered it in white actylic. I actually just spread it over the canvas with my hands to give it a textured feel.
. i then drew squares on the canvas with a pencil and ruler.
. I picked out contrasting acylic paints. As it was for my living room which is blue and brown, i picked two sahdes of blue, two shades of brown and a white to blend.
. I used a old pice of mountboard to apply the colours to random squares.
. I then used carpet thread to make a grid effect over the squares.
. I printed a little B & W picture of each of us and stuck it into square.
. I then embellished with material, scrap paper, thread, buttons, flowers and brads.
. I added painted chipboard letter for each of our names and doodled here and there.

I am really pleased with how it turned out. Here are a few pictures.

I have opened a thread over on Caroinez about canvases if you fancy joining me in canvas art.

See you soon.

Scrap Attack 2

I am starting to get the publicity ready for the next Scrap Attack event. Dyan has confirmed the date with Sandra and also that this will be the only north east of scotland event this year. So hopefully it should be a great crafty weekend.

Here is the poster i have just made for the event.

Back soon with more scrap Attack news

Off to hit the hay now

Craft therepy

I am so full of a cold at the moment. I could really do without it at the moment as the kids broke up from school on friday and i have so much college work to do as well.

So i decided there was no way i would get anything done college wise today so set about finishing of some projects.

Firstly i finished my B and W project for my swap over on UKS. I cant show you but here is a sneaky peak or two.

Secondly i have a LO to upload. I made it last week for Willows Stash bash challenge over on Carolinez Craftz forumz. You can find the challenge here.

Here is my LO which features my Mum. Not the best of scan's as i did it on mum's machine.

Next is a little something i did for Caroline. I made a door hanger using her new C thruz plasma range which you can find here.

I used leftovers from my BIA project and 7 gypsies scrummy papers. I made another ribbon flower that i used on the ribbon stash bash.

I also half finished another BIA swap which i am pleased about as well and finished a canvas that i started on friday as well.

Here is a little look at the canvas. It doesnt look like that now, lol, so different.

Thats me for tonight but i might be back as i have an anouncement.

See ya later

Card Making

I used to be a card maker many years ago before the scrapbooking bug took over. I was asked to do some contempary card making classes by sandra over at Crafter's Haven. Here is what i came up with. My first card making class was on tuesday. I was great to see the different interpretations of the same card.

I used many techniques on these cards including stamping, heat embossing, diecuts, and eyelet setting.

Whilst i remember i will post some pics of my other BIA project from the swap.

I enjoyed making these cards so will hopefully get to make some more soon.

Take care
Sarah

Use up your cardstock challenge

Its Willows turn on the stash bash this month. Following on from Paula's inspirational rummage thru your ribbon challenge, Willow has gone for cardstock. Now everyone has cardstock in their collection so i am expecting great things with this challenge. Here is the chat thread where you can see all of Willows inspirational creations and the following info can be found on sprinkles.

Cardstock...I just LOVE cardstock!
There is very little you cannot do with cardstock. But you can get overwhelmed with 'bits and pieces' of cardstock...the not quite 12x12pieces.If you are anything like me, nothing gets thrown away, but hoarded and stashed away 'for later'....but when is later?

Following on from Paula's fabby 'rummage through your ribbon', lets clear up some of that cardstock you have. Take a look at what i have done, hopefully it will inspire you to do the same...find your hoarded cardstock and have some fun using it up!

Have you seen the new bazzill 'just an edge' cardstock you can buy? Here i have made my own from an off cut of cardstock..no need to be neat..dont worry about getting perfect scalloped edges..just cut away! I have also cut out a tag and covered it with buttons.

I am sure you will agree that Willows LO is just stunning and there is plenty more were that come from on the forumz. Louise has also added loads of doodled cardstock LO's for inspiration as well and Tracey has already uploaded a cutepie LO.

So head on over for a mooch.

Take care
Sarah

Happy Easter

Its good Friday here but there is nothing good about it. Its so cold and windy, with abit of snow chucked in as well. So miserable.

The boys are off school today so we did a bit of each painting. I bought polystyrene eggs for them to decorate. We decided we would make them all crackly with Tim Holtze crackle paint. Remember to not heat polystyrene eggs with a hot heat gun!!!!! Not a good result, looks like a shrunken alien.

So then i had to stand and blow eggs the traditional way, boy did my ears hurt afterwards. We did one each and a spare. A few hours later we have some funky eggs covered in stickles and tim holtze.

Bad blogger again

I am such a bad blogger again. I am so snowed under with my college work load at the moment. My crafting is taking a serious battering.

I have so many craft projects on the go at the moment that are just half finished. I am in the middle of a project for Carolinez craftz using her gorgeus new C thru products.

I am making a Maze book for a B & W swap on UKS. Plus my B & W BIA project for my swap.

I have also started teaching for Sandra over at Crafters Haven, MacDuff. My first class was my maze book. I am doing cards on tuesday evening and then beginners scrapbooking on the following Friday. So excited.

We also spent yesterday signing up for our classes at scrap attack, all nerve racking but its getting closer now.

Roll on next week for hols when i can have a tidy up in living room and craft room, i might be able to find things more.

Be back soon

My BIA swap projects

I have more shots of my projects.

I will do the other tomorrow as i am still trying to go to bed, lol

Busy old time

Well yesterday i spent nearly an hour in our little post office posting all the wonderful BIA projects for my swap. And today i have been on tenderhooks waiting to see which one have arrived and if they like them.

Had a really busy week at college this week. I am doing a microbiology unit this term so there is lots of practical involved. I have to practice to get the techniques right as i am being tested on my practical skills. Nerve racking.

Got some loverly stash to play with from Caroline today. Made a start this evening but cant finish as i need to borrow mums crop-o-dile.

I am also working on my stuff for the BIA challlenge i want to start on carolinez forumz as well. Watch this space. Also i have requested another swap as well becuase i had so much fun doing this one.

Off to bed now as really shattered.

BIA Project Swap

I have just organised my first swap over on UKS. I decided to base it around the wonderful BIA machine as I love this little blue baby, so versatile.

Anyway the swap was to make a project of your choice no bigger than A5 size and to spend about £7.00. I had 30 ladies of all abilities, new BIA users to seasoned pro's, join in with the swap.

I really loved doing the swap as there was lots of funny chat in the thread and loads of advice for those new to the BIA. The projects that have come in have been excellent, varying in styles and colours.

Well done Ladies for making the swap such a success.
