I was recently given a copy of cloth, paper, scissors (CPS) by Fiona at our crop to pass onto mum. As she was away at the time i decided to browse thru it. Wow what a inspiration art magazine it is. Lots of little projects jumped out at me to try.
But as i have lots of canvases hanging around (you know you all have them from when they are on special, lol), I decided to make a sort of family inspired collarge similar to the one in CPS.
Here is how i did it.
. I took a 12 x 12 plain white canvas
. I covered it in white actylic. I actually just spread it over the canvas with my hands to give it a textured feel.
. i then drew squares on the canvas with a pencil and ruler.
. I picked out contrasting acylic paints. As it was for my living room which is blue and brown, i picked two sahdes of blue, two shades of brown and a white to blend.
. I used a old pice of mountboard to apply the colours to random squares.
. I then used carpet thread to make a grid effect over the squares.
. I printed a little B & W picture of each of us and stuck it into square.
. I then embellished with material, scrap paper, thread, buttons, flowers and brads.
. I added painted chipboard letter for each of our names and doodled here and there.
I am really pleased with how it turned out. Here are a few pictures.
I have opened a thread over on Caroinez about canvases if you fancy joining me in canvas art.
See you soon.
